Dr. Juanita Miller

Juanita Miller is a graduate of Oklahoma State Teacher’s College, studied toward a BA in music and drama at the University of Oklahoma and did graduate level work in drama. Actively involved in numerous civic and cultural activities, Juanita Miller’s associations include: past chairman, Dallas Flower and Garden Show; member of the board and executive committee, the Dallas Civic Opera; board member, Dallas Symphony Association, Inc.; co-founder and past president of the Dallas Civic Opera Women’s Board; past president, Dallas Civic Ballet; president, Dallas Civic Ballet Women’s Committee; member, the Dallas chapter of Northwood’s National Women’s Board; founding member and board member, Dallas Theater Center; past president, Dallas Council on World Affairs; founder and first president, Texas Women’s Association of Symphony Orchestras; member, Dallas Art Association and Art Museum League; past president, the Colony; committee member, Owen Fine Arts Center (SMU); zone chairman, Dallas County Red Cross; United Way Fund; member Dallas Garden Center; officer, Dallas Garden Club and recipient of the Dallas Historical Society Service Award for Excellence in the Arts. In 1996 she became Dr. Juanita Miller, receiving an honorary degree from Northwood for years of leadership and counsel. Her husband, real estate legend Henry S. Miller, also has received Northwood’s honorary degree. They have four children, all graduates of Southern Methodist University. (Deceased 2005)
