Dr. Louise Phipps Crandall

Louise Phipps Crandall was born in New York City. She is a graduate of UCLA, summa cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Her BA degree is in English Literature, and today she enjoys writing. Her late husband, Larry Dale Crandall, served as a consultant in the hospitality industry for many years. Their three children, Lawrence, a professional photographer, Karen, an interior designer and Cheryl, a professional singer, all reside in Orange County. Mrs. Crandall, one of the earliest of women stockbrokers in the country, began her career in 1964. She has been affiliated with several major investment firms over the years as a financial adviser. She has often been called upon to present career workshops for young women and has been a frequent speaker at investment seminars. Mrs. Crandall has served as a member of the Pasadena Showcase for the Arts since 1960. She was a charter member of the Board of Governors of the Los Angeles Athletic Club, in 1976, the year its John R. Wooden Basketball Award was created. She served a National Chair of Northwood’s National Women’s Board from 1981 to 1983. She received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Northwood in 1984. From 1986 – 1988 she chaired the Palm Springs chapter of its National Women’s Board.
