Miriam Pitcairn Mitchell

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Bryn Athyn, the daughter of The Reverend and Mrs. Theodore Pitcairn. Her minister father was also an art collector and philanthropist. Miriam Mitchell graduated with B.S. and M.S. degrees from the School of Speech at Northwestern University. Following graduation, she taught speech and drama, French and English at the high school and college levels. She is an actress, member of Actors’ Equity and has performed in many community, summer stock and Institute for the Advancement of Theatre Arts (IASTA) productions. She was the co-founder with her husband of IASTA and has served as vice president and secretary of the organization. Mrs. Mitchell teaches speech and drama and directs the dramatic productions at the College of the Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn. She is a former member of AETA and SAA and serves as vice president of the Beneficia Foundation. Dr. and Mrs. John Dietrich Mitchell divide their time between Pennsylvania and Florida. They have three married children.
