Dr. Hannah Baker Church

Hannah Baker Church was born in Midland, Michigan, the daughter of Dr. William J. and Hannah Stuart Baker. She attended schools in Midland and at Cranbrook’s Kingswood School and studied music and business management at Butler University. Hannah Church has been employed in past years by The Dow Chemical Company, Michigan Bell Telephone Company, the Ludington Daily News and is presently owner of a family-owned real estate firm, Baker Real Estate. She was on the board of the Comerica Bank – Midland and early on was one of only four women to serve in this position in the state of Michigan. She is married to John Alfred Church, who was Senior Vice President for development at Northwood. John and Hannah Church have eight children. Mrs. Church has been actively involved with Northwood’s Town & Campus and Palm Beach chapters of the National Women’s Board since 1965 and a Northwood National Library League member. She was awarded the Town & Campus Silver Service Award for her continued and avid support of the programs and projects of Northwood. She is a member of the Alma College President’s Club, the Memorial Presbyterian Church and the National Women’s Board of Northwood. The Church Family Administration Building on the Northwood University campus in Michigan is named for her family. Dr. Hannah Church was awarded an honorary degree from Northwood in 1990.
