We recruit 100 Alumni who want to make a significant impact to the University by combining their donation with the rest of the members to award $10,000 each semester to the group of their choice within Northwood University.

Alumni Project 100

How it Works

Involving a collaborative effort, this initiative supports a range of student groups and departments through a competitive process. Participants take part in the evaluation of proposals and are required to uphold impartiality, disclosing any potential conflicts of interest in the grant assessment.

Donation Commitment

Each member must commit to donating $100 per semester ($200 per year). The Alumni Project 100 group will meet and distribute the funds once each semester.

Approved Recipients

The donations will be given to approved Northwood University student groups/departments only.

Proposal Submissions

Each student organization/department that is under consideration will submit a one-page proposal to the Northwood Alumni Council. The Council will then choose the top three finalists for the live presentations.

Competition & Voting Process

The top three proposals will then give their presentations live at the NU Alumni Project 100 meeting. All members will cast their vote.

Those unable to attend the NU Alumni Project 100 meeting are able to submit their vote before the meeting to vote by proxy after reviewing the top three proposals.

Proposal Eligibility

The winning proposal will be ineligible until the following year. All proposals that are not chosen will remain eligible for the next semester’s competition.

Requirements

Donations must be in hand before your vote can count. We accept automatic deduction via ACH or credit card.

The cumulative amount of donations will be awarded to the winning proposal each semester.

Conflict of Interest

Members who are serving on a grant evaluation committee or who are members of the NU Alumni Project 100 are required to disclose potential conflicts of interest. All members are expected to act in an objective and fair manner. In particular, members are expected to refrain from any attempt to gain an unfair advantage for any particular grant applicant.

It’s easy to join Northwood University’s Alumni Project 100. Payments can be made by check or digitally. Mail a check payable to Northwood University with “Alumni Project 100” written in the memo line.

Sustaining Member

As a sustaining member, you make $50 quarterly payments and your membership will be active year to year.

Young Alumni

Special opportunity for new graduates. Join Project 100 for 50% of the regular rate. Join Project 100 for one semester ($50) or one year ($100).

These are some of the past funded projects that were made possible through Project 100.

Fall 2025

5-Star Student Union

The 5 Star Student Union initiative focused on upgrading shared student spaces to improve engagement, collaboration, and campus life. The project elevates the overall student experience by creating a more dynamic and welcoming hub for campus activity.

Revitalized Campus Chapel

The Revitalized Campus Chapel project aimed to modernize and refresh the campus chapel to create a more welcoming and functional space for reflection, worship, and campus gatherings.

DECA Day

DECA Day was designed to bring together business students, faculty, and local professionals for a day of leadership development, networking, and career exploration. The event featured guest speakers, interactive workshops, and competitive activities that helped students build practical business skills.

NU Gardening Center

The NU Gardening Center project focused on expanding and enhancing the university’s campus garden to promote sustainability, hands-on learning, and community engagement.

Woody’s Secret Society

Create a dedicated space for our beloved mascot Woody and fund student positions to have Woody more visible and available for campus and community events.

Aqua Access

Installed water bottle filling stations in Lower Miner and DuBois Hall. Before the filling stations were installed there was no water bottle filling options on this side of campus.

I Hear You

A mental health project focused on getting students and staff at Northwood University Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certified to become educational resources and servers of mental health help on campus.

Spring 2022

Career Closet

Created a space where Northwood students, as well as members of the local community, have free access to professional dress for career-oriented events.

EV Charging Station

Installed two charging stations on campus.

NU Idea Center Podcast Studio

Implemented a multimedia podcase program that advances the Northwood Idea, freedom, free enterprise, and entrepreneurship, while also creating and strengthening relationships with entrepreneurs and business professionals that are Living the Idea (Northwood Idea).

Financial Leadership Summit

An annual event held by the NU Finance Association to bring alumni and community leaders to campus for students to learn, connect, and network with industry leaders.
