Denny Griswold

Denny Griswold, born and raised in New York City, was educated at Hunter College (B.A.), Radcliff College (M.A.) and Columbia University. She was married to J. Langdon Sullivan, head of an investment management firm which carried his name. Her first husband, the late Glenn Griswold, was Editor and Publisher of Business Week. Her professional experience included: National and Mutual Broadcasting, Conde Nast Publishing, J. Walter Thompson, Forbes, Business Week and the Edward L. Bernays public relations firm. In 1944, she founded and served for almost forty years as editor of Public Relations News, the first public relations weekly in the world, for which she is listed in the Guinness World Book of Records. She served on the boards of the USO, New York World’s Fair, International Center of New York, Public Relations Society of America and the Newsletter Association. She has also served on the advisory committees of Camp Fire Girls of America, Institute of International Education, International Public Relations Association, Joint Council on Economic Education, Pace College and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, to name only a few. Among her 134 honors for contributions to public relations and to better world understanding are awards from the Association of Women in PR (London), the City of New York, City of Paris, Hunter College, National Association of Manufacturers, National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, the Public Relations Society of America, Women in Communications, International Women’s Forum and the International PR Association.
