Northwood University has been recognized as a Gold-level Veteran-Friendly School by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for the 2025–26 academic year.
“Northwood University is honored to once again be recognized as a Gold-level Veteran-Friendly School,” stated Northwood University President Kent MacDonald. “Our veteran and military-connected students exemplify resilience as they pursue their education while balancing professional careers, family responsibilities, and service commitments. Their dedication, leadership, and perspectives embody the principles that define Northwood: freedom, respect, personal responsibility, and free enterprise. Having served with purpose, they bring that same commitment to their studies and future careers. Northwood is strengthened by their presence, and we remain steadfast in supporting their success as they lead in business, enrich their communities, and answer the call of freedom wherever it may arise.”
“For more than 40 years, Northwood has offered unique programs tailored to the needs of veterans, active-duty service members, and their families,” noted Vice President of Enrollment and Strategic Partnerships Dr. Matthew Bennett. “These military-connected learners embody the values in Northwood’s FRESH AIR Code of Ethics — freedom, respect, empathy, spirituality, honesty, achievement, integrity, and responsibility — and Northwood is proud to provide an environment where they can thrive academically and personally.”
“Northwood’s proven student-centered approach is successful because we have a community that understands and supports the transition from military service to higher education, and we pair it with the academic rigor and flexibility that current military members, veterans, and their families, need to succeed,” added Matthew Laux, who leads Northwood’s military recruiting efforts.
This is not the first time Northwood has been honored for its dedication to veterans. Most recently, Military Times named Northwood University a “Best for Vets College,” further affirming the institution’s national reputation for veteran-focused education.
“Northwood’s ability to provide robust support for our nation’s veterans and other military-connected learners is made possible in large part by the generosity of donors who believe in Northwood’s role as America’s Free Enterprise University,” stated Advancement Vice President Murray Kyte. “As we are in the midst of the public phase of our When We Are Free comprehensive campaign, we are reminded that supporting Northwood means supporting those who have served. Philanthropic investment powers the discounts that reduce out-of-pocket costs, as well as the wraparound advising and career services that ease the transition to campus, and the high-impact learning experiences that translate military leadership into business leadership.”
