International Freshmen Merit Scholarships – non-U.S. citizens

  • Awarded to new freshmen admitted for 2018/2019 academic year.
  • Based on GPA
    • Eligibility determination based on official high school GPA information. Students will receive a formal notification stating actual eligibility from Northwood University.

Award levels:

  • Presidential International Scholarship – $10,500 (with on-campus residency; $8,000 without campus residency)
    • Limited funds available
    • Requires 3.6+ GPA
    • Renewal Subject to Cumulative GPA 3.0
  • Freedom International Scholarship – $9,500 (with on-campus residency; $7,000 without campus residency)
    • Limited funds available
    • Requires 3.4 – 3.59 GPA
    • Renewal Subject to Cumulative GPA 2.7
  • Free Enterprise International Scholarship – $7,500 (with on-campus residency; $5,000 without campus residency)
    • Requires 3.0 – 3.39 GPA
    • Renewal Subject to Cumulative GPA 2.5
  • Entrepreneur International Scholarship – $5,500 (with on-campus residency; $3,000 without campus residency)
    • Requires 2.7 – 2.99 GPA
    • Renewal Subject to Cumulative GPA 2.2
  • Liberty International Scholarship – $4,000 (with on-campus residency; $1,500 without campus residency)
    • Requires 2.5 – 2.69 GPA
    • Renewal Subject to Cumulative GPA 2.2

International Transfer Merit Scholarships – non-U.S. citizens

International Transfer Merit Scholarship – tier 1

  • Amount: $3000/year for students from an International Program Center or partner school; $2500 for students from other institutions
  • Requires 3.2+ GPA
  • Renewal subject to Cumulative GPA 2.2

International Transfer Merit Scholarship – tier 2

  • Amount: $2500/year for students from an International Program Center or partner school; $2000 for students from other institutions
  • Requires 2.7 – 3.199 GPA
  • Renewal subject to Cumulative GPA 2.2

Naegele Scholarship for International Students

Northwood University welcomes students from every nation and offers freshmen international student scholarships which are endowed by the generosity of donors Robert and Patricia Naegele.

Robert and Patricia Naegele were dedicated Northwood University supporters with a strong desire to help students achieve their academic goals. Their commitment to Northwood University through the Naegele Scholarship Program has touched students from all backgrounds and walks of life.

The Naegele’s life-changing impact has enabled students to pursue additional majors or minors and to defray tuition and other direct college expenses.
 

International (non-U.S. citizens) students who enter Northwood University as freshmen are eligible.

  • A $5,000 scholarship (available to five students)

  • Renewable for up to three (3) academic years (or a total of eight [8] semesters)

  • Prevailing private donor scholarship renewal criteria applies Criteria

Criteria

  • Incoming international, non-athlete, degree-seeking (non-ESL), freshman students

  • Must have paid commit deposit

  • 3.0 or higher high school cumulative GPA – as evaluated by a Northwood appointed third-party transcript evaluation service

  • SAT/ACT scores optional consideration

  • Non-Athlete
