Northwood Sponsored Programs

Northwood Sponsored Programs are designed and administered by the International Programs Office and faculty members. The length of the programs range from a few weeks to semester-long and participants can earn three to fifteen credit hours – if credit is offered for the program.

The selection of programs, their length, and their cost will vary from year to year.

To apply to a program please download the relevant program’s Information and Application packet. The Information and Application packet will contain the Application forms for the relevant program. Submit all the application materials.

 The Course Substitution Form will have to be filled out by an academic advisor and the Student Nomination Form will have to be filled out by a Professor. The Scholarship application is optional.

*Note that some programs aren't for credit programs and thus there will be no tuition cost.

NUCARS 2018 will be held in Denmark.

Northwood University Computerized Automotive Retail Simulation (NUCARS) is a management training game that puts the automotive students as close to reality as possible in an academic environment. The simulation challenges student teams to cope with real-life dilemmas in automotive dealership operations. Students will work with teammates and reflect on today’s management philosophy. Team members come from a number international universities as well as cultural and language backgrounds – requiring a higher level of understanding and cooperation to accomplish goals.

Information and Application Packet

Students who are accepted to the program will travel to Greece, enjoying breathtaking vistas, visiting cities, touring museums and many great pieces of architecture from the height of the Greek civilization!

The program will consist of travel within Greece. Each student will be expected to attend two pre-departure lectures, complete a pre-departure assignment, maintain a detailed daily journal while on the trip in which they reflect upon the aspects of Greek history and culture they encountered, and complete post-trip a project/exam as listed under the course materials.

London – Paris

Northwood University announces a study abroad opportunity for students to experience one of the most vibrant theater districts in the world – an area known as the West End in London, England. Many guidebooks refer to London as “the” theater capital of the world. Students will travel to London and will attend several plays. In addition, students will have the opportunity to visit a number of sites that are historically connected to literature.

Dominican Republic

This program will give Northwood University students the opportunity to complete a course and travel in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is an island nation in the Caribbean nation, and it has a rich cultural and historical heritage. It was first explored by Spaniard Christopher Columbus in 1492, and its capital, Santo Domingo was founded in 1496, the oldest settlement begun by Europeans in the Western Hemisphere. Christopher Columbus is buried in Santo Domingo. 

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country, with mountains, pristine beaches, and colonial architecture. It is also a culture based on Latin American customs and mores. 

The program will be based in Santiago, and the student will attend class on the campus of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santiago, which is a city of about five hundred thousand people. PUCMM is a private, Catholic university with about 20,000 students and is one of the largest colleges in the Dominican Republic. When not in class, students will have the opportunity to study and to explore Santiago. The program will also include a weekend visit to Santo Domingo, a city of some 2.2 million that is the capital of the Dominican Republic.
