GM Executive MBA FAQs

What are the admission requirements for the program?

Applicants must be GM employees and hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. No GMAT or GRE tests are required. Applicants complete a writing sample and participate in an interview.

For students who do not meet regular admissions requirements, probationary admission is determined on a case-by-case basis.

How do I apply?

Complete the online application through northwood.edu/apply. We accept applications year-round; however, we suggest applying no later than early August for a fall semester start and no later than early December for a spring semester start.

Is participation in this program structured in a way that requires students to be available at a specific time or do students access the course at their convenience?

Students need to designate enough time to fulfill weekly course deliverables and complete all required coursework; however, one of the benefits of completing this degree program online is flexibility.

How many classes will I need to take each semester?

Students enroll in two courses each semester.

Are there any requirements to attend in person during the course of this program?

The GM EMBA is offered entirely online with no campus visits required. There is an option to complete the final capstone course as a one-week residency on Northwood University’s Midland, Michigan, campus.

When does the program start?

The fall semester begins late August and the spring semester begins mid-January. For specific dates, visit northwood.edu/academics/graduate/academics/semester-dates.

What is the cost of the program?

Visit northwood.edu/academics/graduate/mba/general-motors-executive-mba for information on program costs. Students pay a $150 commit deposit to hold a spot in the cohort. This deposit is then applied toward tuition. Tuition is due one week prior to the semester start date.

Some students utilize financial aid to cover tuition expenses. Visit northwood.edu/financial-aid/applying-for-financial-aid for information on how to apply for financial aid.

How do I take advantage of any available employer tuition reimbursement benefits?

Students should contact Human Resources personnel at their place of employment for information on applying tuition reimbursement benefits.

Are scholarships available?

Students may apply for private donor scholarships. Students who receive 75 percent or more in tuition reimbursement are not eligible.
