    Prior Learning Assessment

    Get the Credit You Deserve!

Northwood University has long believed that learning does not take place exclusively in the classroom. A person's professional learning may be translated into college-level credit. This learning can be evaluated in terms of required and/or elective courses from specific degree programs. Northwood's process for evaluating a person's prior learning experience is similar to evaluation of coursework transferred from other colleges. The evaluator awards credit where appropriate, allowing the student to accelerate their degree completion.

A maximum of 30 semester hours of credit may be awarded through a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). To be eligible for portfolio submission, students must pass PL 1010 during their first semester at Northwood.

Your program center manager can provide more details on the PLA process and whether you're a good candidate for PLA credit.

Always feel free to contact your Program Center Staff for assistance and guidance.
