Market Your Way Into Business

Northwood University understands the need to develop leaders who understand all facets of marketing from business-to-business to integrated marketing. The online world has changed how marketing does business. At Northwood University you will be led by industry professionals who have made their mark in the marketing sector.

The Marketing major focuses on the various aspects of the marketing function, including business-to-business marketing, marketing research, copywriting, and marketing management.  Students develop a marketing plan as a capstone marketing project.

Upon registering for classes, you will be asked to pick a major and a concentration. Each concentration has a four-year plan or curriculum guide associated with it. The curriculum guide acts as your plan of study. Academic counselors are available to assist you with questions that arise regarding your degree path.

The Northwood Marketing major allows you to focus on a career plan in one of the following concentrations:

Automotive Aftermarket

Welcome to the only University that specifically prepares students for this 140 billion dollar industry.  The Automotive Aftermarket concentration (sometimes referred to as automotive replacement) involves the manufacturing, distribution, and sales of automotive parts, supplies, accessories, tools, and shop equipment.  Increasing demand for automotive parts insures the continued growth of this industry. Northwood develops the management skills in those who want to take advantage of the industry opportunities. The concentration exposes students to the issues faced by leaders in this growing industry.

Curriculum Guide

Advertising

The curriculum provides Marketing's overview of research, promotions, pricing, product development, and sales; along with the specific knowledge of Advertising (creative or research teams and/or account management). The concentration provides graduates with the skills necessary to direct, control, and supervise these functions.

Northwood students are carefully trained as creative thinkers, analysts, and planners in advertising. Personally and professionally, students are guided toward productive work for advertisers, retailers, agencies, media sources, and production suppliers.

Automotive Marketing

Studying various aspects of the automotive marketing function including dealership advertising, finance and insurance, budgeting and forecasting, parts and service, and used car management allows our students the opportunity to develop an understanding of the "whole" automotive dealership business.

In 1963, the National Automobile Dealers Association (N.A.D.A.) selected Northwood University as the college to develop the only collegiate degree program in Automotive Marketing.  In active cooperation with automobile firms, Northwood continues to prepare students for interesting and challenging careers in all aspects of automobile distribution, sales, and service.
