Reception for Graduates

You and your guests are cordially invited to a graduation reception hosted by Northwood’s faculty and staff in the Rotunda located in the Hopkins Academic Building at Northwood University, 1114 W. FM 1382, Cedar Hill, TX 75104 on May 23, 2008, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Schedule
  • 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Reception
  •  1:00 p.m. -   1:45 p.m. - Rehearsal & Line-up
  •  2:00 p.m. - Graduation procession
Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns are to be worn as delivered – do not pin anything on them.

Place cap squarely on your head with the mortarboard parallel to the ground. Bobby pins may be used to secure caps.

Tassel should be worn on the right side until degrees are conferred.

Dress and Conduct

This is a formal occasion. Graduates should dress in business attire and project a professional image and demeanor.

Honors

Only those students who have met the criteria for honors by March 1, 2008 will be listed in the program with honors.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.50
  • Minimum of 44 Northwood credits completed
Honors Scale
  • Cum Laude 3.50 to 3.69
  • Magna Cum Laude 3.70 to 3.89
  • Summa Cum Laude 3.90 to 4.00

Commencement procedures at the facility

Seating and Parking
  • There is no limitation on the number of guests you may invite.
  • There is no fee for parking.
  • Seating is readily available for handicapped guests.
Diploma Cover

You will be handed a diploma cover when you cross the stage during commencement. Retain this cover for your diploma. Your diploma will arrive by mail approximately six to eight weeks after the ceremony.

Class Rings and Invitations

All orders may be placed directly through Jostens, Inc.

Photographs

Pictures will be taken as you cross the stage. Shortly after graduation, you may view and purchase your photos at

Photography will not be permitted on the arena floor before or during commencement. Guests are encouraged to take photos after the ceremony.

Transcripts

The official legal document verifying degree completion is the academic transcript. This document contains a complete record of all courses taken, grades earned, grade point average, degrees awarded, and majors completed. Each student will automatically receive an unofficial transcript in the mail approximately six to eight weeks after the ceremony.

To order additional transcripts, or request an official transcript, please access the
Transcript Request Form.  All requests for transcripts must be submitted in writing.

Official transcripts are those that carry the signature of the Registrar and the Seal of the University. These are ordered for employers, graduate schools, or examination boards such as CPA or law school. Only unofficial transcripts are sent to students. The word ‘official’ means that it is sent directly from Northwood University to the employer or school without going through your hands.
