Welcome to the March edition of the Northwood University alumni e-newsletter.  Northwood University recently hosted a free educational seminar and workshop titled "Marketing Yourself in a Changing Economy" in an effort to assist those transitional and displaced workers who are navigating the current job market and state of the economy.  The seminar was recorded and is available below to all who were unable to attend.  

Events celebrating Northwood University’s 50th anniversary continue to take shape.  The official “Northwood University 50th Anniversary Festival” is scheduled for April 24-26, 2009.  Additional event information is released weekly on www.northwood.edu/50.

 50th Anniversary

To celebrate Northwood University’s 50th anniversary we are planning a “50th Anniversary Festival” on each campus.  The Michigan Campus festival is scheduled for April 24-26, 2009; Texas Campus festival is scheduled for October 2-4, 2009; and the Florida Campus festival is scheduled for February 5-7, 2010.  In addition to these festivals, Northwood will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary over the next year at events around the globe.  We hope everyone is able to participate in one of the events this year as this is a momentous occasion.   Make sure to join the “Northwood University 50th Anniversary” group on www.Facebook.com to stay in the know as more event information is released!

 Alumni Chapter News

All alumni chapters are using www.facebook.com for their chapter group web pages.  Within the chapter group pages on www.facebook.com events can be advertised, photos can be shared, job opportunities can be posted, and, best of all, you can communicate with other alumni in your area in a secure online environment.     

Cleveland

Next event is the Cleveland Auto Show Alumni & Friends Reception on Friday, March 6, 2009.   Click HERE to register for this event online or contact the alumni office at alumni@northwood.edu.  All attendees can attend the auto show at no cost, free appetizers at the reception, and complimentary beer and wine (mixed drinks extra). 

Our next "After Hours" social will be on Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 6:00 pm – till? at The Cadillac Ranch, 200 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.  Contact alumnus Robert MacCutcheon at bob@rymacservicesinc.com if interested in attending and/or becoming involved in the Cleveland Chapter. 

Chicago

Next event is the Northwood Alumni & Friends Happy Hour at the Irish Oak at 3511 N. Clark St. in Chicago on Thursday, March 5, from 5:30–8:30 pm.  Join Professor Jim Cleary and his advertising mini session students as they are visiting some advertising agencies in Chicago this week.  RSVP for the event within the “Chicago Alumni Chapter” group via www.facebook.com or contact Felske@northwood.edu if interested in attending and/or becoming involved with the chapter.

Southeast Michigan Southeast Michigan

On Thursday, April 2, Career Services will be hosting the 2009 Spring Career Expo.  If we have enough alumni interested in taking a bus up to Midland for the day, the alumni office will set it up.  We need at least 40 people and the approximate cost would be $20.  If you are interested, please call or email Nicole Gize, Director of Alumni Development–Southeast MI, at 248-649-1034 or gizen@northwood.edu.
