February 2008

 Welcome

Welcome to the February edition of the Northwood University alumni e-newsletter.

It is an exciting time here at Northwood University!  For the first time in history the Timberwolves women’s basketball team has made it to the GLIAC playoffs.  Second seeded Northwood will host 3rd seeded Ferris on Saturday, March 1 at 6:00 pm.  We encourage you to come back to campus on Saturday and witness history; the women guarantee an exciting game.

Northwood is excited to announce that Navy Admiral Patrick M. Walsh will be speaking on campus during Values Emphasis Week at 11:00 am on Monday, March 17.  We have opened up this event to alumni since Admiral Walsh is such a dynamic speaker.  Please contact me for details.  Another event on campus that continues to grow every year is the 7th annual NU Style Show.  This year’s event, “A Parisian Affair”, will take place on Wednesday, March 26th at 7:30 pm in the Hach Student Life Center.  The NU Style Show is fashioned after an industry couture fashion show.  I highly recommend attending; you will be amazed at the production the students create.  Contact Jenna Arcari at 586-850-2008 (arcarij@northwood.edu) or Cassandra Hackworth at 989-837-4313 for tickets.

Enjoy the pictures below from a few of our recent alumni events.  Feel free to share pictures with me that you have taken at an alumni event and I will do my best to publish them in the e-newsletter or NU Idea magazine.

My last request for the month…even if you don’t have snow where you are….help those of us out that do…and think spring!

19th Annual Northwood University International Creativity Conference
A Breath of Fresh Air: Creativity and Change

March 6 – 8, 2008
Midland, Michigan

Inspiration
The conference theme is inspired by the re-launching of the Alden B. Dow Creativity Center at Northwood University.  The center has established a new mission and strategic direction - its own exciting change in programming and operations.  There are two conference changes this year.  One positions the Creativity Conference in March to increase Northwood’s student participation.  The other is to register for the conference beginning January 15, 2008 online at www.northwood.edu/creativitycenter.

Contact Jessika Satori at 989-837-4478 for additional information.
