The holidays hold many meanings for people everywhere, but the constant within each of us is the sense of something “special” or “magical” which transcends our everyday experience; it is a belief not only in something meaningful beyond us, but the conviction that we are in fact a part of it.
In this way, the holidays serve as an opportunity to reconsider the enduring nature of our mission here at Northwood University. In educating the leaders of today and tomorrow, we not only confirm the value of information and knowledge in the world, but we also affirm the place and importance of the wisdom to which both point. In serving the business training needs of our students and corporate partners, we not only validate their role and place as consumers and enterprisers, but also uphold their significance as unique and individual people.
As we pause with America and the world, we should all consider how our work at Northwood points to the unchanging traditions the holidays recognize and celebrate.
And one final note: in recognition of the holiday season, we’ll pick up our weekly messages starting in January 2014.
May you and yours enjoy a very happy, healthy and peaceful holiday season.
