Northwood University Florida Campus Welcomes Dr. Kristin Stehouwer as Interim Provost
It gives me great pleasure to announce to you this week the appointment of Dr. Kristin Stehouwer, Northwood University’s executive vice president and chief academic officer, as Interim Provost for our Florida Campus. Dr. Stehouwer will assume this additional role, in concert with her current duties, effective July 1st and will serve in this capacity until we complete a national search for a permanent provost.
After careful and attentive consideration of the model candidate it was clear that Dr. Stehouwer is ideal candidate for this role. Her extensive experience in the facilitation and deployment of strategy combined with specializations in strategic management, performance excellence, process improvement, and organizational leadership are just some of the many talents she offers.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to work even more closely with our Florida team,” remarked Dr. Stehouwer. “I look forward to partnering with everyone as we continue to grow the Florida Campus within our ONE Northwood University.”
Dr. Stehouwer came to Northwood from Macomb Community College (MCC) where she served as vice provost for Arts and Sciences and executive director of Research and Planning. Prior to MCC, Dr. Stehouwer served as director of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and special advisor to the president at Northwestern Michigan College. She also worked on special assignment to the U.S. Department of Commerce at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and worked in the area of global manufacturing competitiveness which included a national speaking tour.
A polymath, Dr. Stehouwer speaks six languages, has worked with organizations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa, has published numerous articles and made several presentations at the national level. She earned her Ph.D., M.A. and B.A. from Northwestern University where she majored in Political Science and International Relations and studied international law at the University of Strasbourg as a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Stehouwer on her interim appointment.
Have a great weekend,
Keith A. Pretty, J.D.
