Happy ThanksgivingTomorrow we observe one of America’s most treasured celebrations, Thanksgiving. While the first Thanksgiving took place in 1621, one year after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, it wasn’t until 1863 that the official date was set. At the end of the civil war Abraham Lincoln asked all Americans to set aside the last Thursday in November as a day of thanksgiving. Since we first celebrated this holiday over 400 years ago, our nation has seen a host of historic events, some celebratory and many not. Today, even with the current economic difficulties and threats to free enterprise, we have much for which to be thankful. So let us count the many blessings in our lives and rejoice in the new opportunities that await us in our mission to develop the future leaders of a global, free-enterprise society. Happy Thanksgiving and please enjoy the holiday weekend. Keith A. Pretty, J.D.
