Personalized Admissions Process of Value to Students, Parents

As Northwood University gears up for the new academic year, many incoming students and parents are realizing that it’s the one on one attention provided by staff and faculty that can make the college matriculation process an enjoyable one.

“From family field visits in which representatives go to the homes of potential students to share information relating Northwood’s mission and programs, scholarships and financial aid, and student life and athletics, to campus tours and visits with key personnel, incoming students and their parents are provided many opportunities to interact, and we’re always thankful for the opportunity to reach out personally,” said Doug Doran, Florida’s Director of Admissions.

And it’s the members of the Northwood University admissions team that families initially get to know on a first name basis.

“As a professional it’s great to be involved with an organization that places such an emphasis on the personal touch,” said Brad Cocking, a Northwood University Florida Admissions Representative who covers the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. “As I interact with potential students and their family members, many times at their kitchen tables, the value of such personal interactions becomes apparent, as they rest easy knowing that all of their questions are answered,” added Cocking of the matriculation process which also includes Northwood introductions through classroom presentations, open house programs, guidance office visits, and more.

“I found it remarkable that a university representative would take the time to visit our home, and to sit down with us to ensure that we were familiar with the admissions process and that all of our questions were answered,” said Kathryn Hull of Cocking’s visit with her son Niles who will be joining Northwood University Florida this fall to study Entertainment, Sport, and Promotion Management (ESPM). “We then visited campus and everything fell into place,” smiled the Pittsgrove, New Jersey resident.
