Northwood Florida Hosts Over 6000 at Career Fair

Dr. Tom Duncan comments regarding the importance of community partnerships as Northwood Florida hosts the Palm Beach Outlet Mall Career Fair.
The event welcomed over 6,000 job seekers to campus.

Northwood University Florida recently hosted the Palm Beach Outlet Mall Career Fair, which drew over 6000 job seekers vying for approximately 1500 full and part-time jobs.

The event, made possible through a collaboration with New England Development Company, generated Northwood University media coverage on all South Florida CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX television stations, radio programs, and newspapers while  providing the opportunity to introduce thousands of local residents to the University’s curriculum and programs.

Campus President Dr. Tom Duncan stated, "Northwood University-Florida was pleased to partner with this exciting new business venture in West Palm Beach.  Hosting the Job Fair on our campus allowed thousands of area job-seekers and employers to see Northwood ‘up close,’ and we were able to share information about our academic programs to hundreds of prospective students," said Duncan.  "In particular, we targeted visitors who would be interested in our Adult Degree Program and MBA program."

"Each person who entered the Job Fair received a Northwood Seahawk bag that included information about our academic programs, basketball tickets, and information about our upcoming Auto Show of the Palm Beaches set for February 21-22, 2014."  Added Duncan, "The Outlet Mall will provide significant jobs and internship opportunities for our students.   Several of our current students received immediate job offers at the event, with some students receiving multiple offers," President Duncan concluded.

Said Palm Beach Outlets General Manager Jim Roberts, "With Palm Beach Outlets creating over a thousand jobs in the local market, the New Year will bring new opportunity for so many in our community."

Located directly off Interstate 95 on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Outlets is being developed by a partnership of New England Development and Eastern Real Estate. Redevelopment of the property began in January 2013 and is expected to be completed on schedule for grand opening activities starting February 14, 2014. The investment by New England Development and Eastern Real Estate will make Palm Beach Outlets the premier outlet shopping attraction in the Palm Beach market. An estimated 1,500 full and part time permanent positions in retail management and sales are projected to be created as a result of the redevelopment of Palm Beach Outlets, which will consist of brand favorites including: Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, J. Crew | Crewcuts Factory, Ann Taylor Factory Store, Banana Republic Factory Store, Kenneth Cole, Talbots, Under Armour Factory Store and White House | Black Market.
