Northwood University Presents at Dallas Independent School District

Dr. Kevin Fegan discusses the definition of leadership with DISD lead counselors.

In an on-going effort to strengthen Northwood University’s relationship with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), Dr. Kevin Fegan, president of the Texas campus, and Darien Moore, director of admissions and enrollment for the Texas campus, recently participated in the DISD Leadership Academy. The DISD Leadership Academy is designed to hone leadership skills and empower the lead counselors in the school district.

Dr. Fegan presented on the definition of leadership and Moore spoke to the group about the University and its high school partnership program. This event was a huge opportunity to reach counselors who knew nothing to very little about the institution.  The presentation left them desiring more, which has led to partnership opportunities as well as increased access to DISD students.

A representative from the Dallas ISD Counseling Services Department said, “Thanks to Northwood University for sponsoring the Dallas ISD Leadership Academy for Professional School Counselors. The counselors were very excited about Dr. Fegan’s presentation and expressed rave reviews about the information he shared on what it takes to be a great leader. The counselor information was very helpful and the counselors will definitely take this information back and share it with their students and parents.

Several counselors made additional comments: “The presenter pointed out positive language use,” “The speaker was enlightening and encouraging!” and “I loved Dr. Fegan's presentation! The information he shared will be very beneficial to my growth as a Lead Counselor!”
