CEDAR HILL, Texas - Just in time for Tax Free Weekend, Northwood University marketing major with a concentration in fashion, Victoria Chandler shares what trends to keep an eye out for the fall season.
NU: What color trends are in this season?
VC: After a few seasons of ‘Over-the-top’ prints, Designers were ready to go back to the basics. Leopard, plaid, pinstripes all made appearances on the runway, but houndstooth was the breakout star by far. When it comes to patterns this fall, ditch complicated in favor of basic.
GREEN- is officially a thing for fall 2013. Emerald to army, there is a shade for every skin tone, hair color, and personal style.
NU: Any shoe trends this year?
VC: Over-the-knee-boots, to test the style you can wear leather leggings with an ankle boot. The classic black strappy heels are a go for this season’s look as well.
NU: Winter White, Yes or No?
VC: Winter White made one of the strongest impressions this season on the runway. Easy to assemble at any price and season-spanning, this addition to the trends list was a no- brainer.
NU: How high are the boots this season?
VC: Following spring’s infatuation with the boot-sandal hybrid comes a good helping of tough over-the-knee boots that are undoubtedly more comfortable.
NU: To cinch or not to cinch, that is the question?
VC: To cinch defiantly. Don’t let Thanksgiving get to you! A cinched waist is still in this fall. Let your figure define you. The Little Black Dress with a cinch waist allows you to feel comfortable, stylish, and sexy.
NU: Leather, in or out? And how would you wear it.
VC: Do rethink your leather pieces. Leather can be sporty, edgy, or downright womanly depending on how it’s styled. Do go for a colored piece every once in a while, Style it as you would a regular piece. Don’t try an all leather outfit.
