
The Northwood University Blue Attitude Dance Team on Michigan’s campus enhances school spirit through performance. The team serves as Northwood University public relations ambassadors to the student body, athletic teams, and the community.
The team consists of 10-14 members. The team’s artistic and athletic talents allow them to combine jazz, hip-hop, pom-pon, and kickline choreography to create unique routines. Christine Mattheis
Christine began dancing at the age of four, continuing through grade school, high school and several years of college before beginning her professional dance career in Chicago. In the ‘windy city’, she studied under Gus Giordano while dancing in routines for supper clubs and performing in live musicals. Christine later relocated in L. A. where she danced in the movies Grease, Sargent Peppers, Xanadu and 1941. Steven Spielberg directed 1941, his first movie, and only comedy. Christine now resides in Saginaw with her husband Henry, an entrepreneur managing his own business. She has been dancing several years with the In Motion Dance Studio and brings excellent tech and professionalism to the NU Dance Team.
Blue Attitude, The Michigan campus NU Dance Team attended the College National Championships held in Orlando, placing as semi-finalists in the open dance category. It was an awesome opportunity to see what the best teams in the nation are doing and an excellent learning experience. The team attends periodic Dance Camps and focuses on technique during the off season.
