National incorporated artists are selected each year to perform and offer classroom demo-lectures. Funded by the NU Arts Endowment set in place by the late Dr. Turner, the initiative exposes students to a variety of high caliber performance mediums. The Campus Arts Directors select the majority of the performers from the annual Midwest Arts Conference where upcoming incorporated artists are showcased each year.
The arts at Northwood University boast a prestigious history of both visual and performing artists. When selecting artists, Northwood searches for those who have demonstrated proficiency in their craft, embrace creativity and innovation, and can communicate the arts and business relationship to our students in a unique way.
Once per term, Northwood hosts a performing artist or artist group for three to five days on campus. The artist provides a combination of workshops, lectures, lecture-demonstrations, community/school outreaches, and performances while on campus.
Artist workshops are designed to further elaborate on the arts and business link to Northwood’s students.
The Midland campus has non-traditional performing spaces; our main presentation area is a lecture hall atmosphere located in the Griswold Communications Center. The lecture hall seats approximately 200 people and features an in house sound system, some lighting capabilities and a large screen option.
