Head Coach

Meaggan Pettipiece is in her first season as head softball coach at Northwood University.

She takes over for Heather Bruder, who resigned in June to become the head coach at Bluffton.

Pettipiece comes to Northwood after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach at California (PA). While at California, Pettipiece was a part of a staff that won three straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division titles. The Vulcans also made appearances in the NCAA Tournament a total of four times. During her time as an assistant, California went 175-65 (.729).

Prior to her coaching career, Pettipiece started in centerfield for the Vulcans in 1998 and 1999. She was a key component in California's national championship in 1998. A two-time All-American, Pettipiece twice earned First Team All-PSAC and Mid-Atlantic Region honors as well. She was inducted in the California University Hall of Fame in 2005.

A native of Blenheim, Ontario, Pettipiece also brings a wealth of international experience from her playing days with the Canadian National Team. She played outfield for Team Canada during the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and was an alternate for the 2004 team in Greece. Pettipiece also earned a pair of silver medals at the Pan-Am Games (1999, 2003). In all, Pettipiece played with the national team for seven years (1998-2004).

Pettipiece married her husband Brady in October of 2004. The family was blessed with the addition of son Cooper on Jan. 17, 2006. She will come to Northwood having completed her Masters Degree in Sports Administration.

Meredith Moody

Assistant Coach

Meredith Moody is in her first season as the top assistant at Northwood.  

 

Prior to her arrival at Northwood, Moody worked as an assistant coach and hitting instructor for the Michigan Ice in Midland.    She has also spent time coaching at James Baxter Hunt High School and the North Carolina Lady Pilots, an 18 and under team in her home state.  Moody also managed the Wilson County Youth Athletic Association 12 and under team to the Babe Ruth Softball World Series in 2003.

 

Moody played four collegiate seasons at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  A team captain in both her junior and senior seasons, Moody was the only Camel to play in every game in 2003 and 2004.  She currently ranks fifth in school history with 36 career stolen bases.  Moody played in both the infield and the outfield during her collegiate career.

 

Moody earned her bachelors degree in Chemistry from Campbell in 2004.  Prior to moving to Midland, she worked as a chemist at Mircobac Laboratories Southern Testing and Research Division for two years in Wilson, North Carolina.
