Timberwolf Learning Center

Experience the difference the Timberwolf Learning Center can make! The TLC employs a staff of highly trained, College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certified, motivated students who are available to help peers in most courses offered at Northwood. TLC services are offered at no additional cost to all traditional Northwood undergraduate students.

Services

Walk-In Tutoring is available Sunday through Thursday for math (up to 209), accounting (241-243) and English (any writing assignment). Please view the Walk-In Tutoring link for the current schedule.

Individual Sessions are available for many courses (varies by term). Please click on the Tutor Request link to request an individual tutor. You may also request a tutor to lead a small study group.

Peer Mentoring is available for selected courses (as requested by professors). A peer mentor attends class, absorbs the exact same material/lecture as the students, is available throughout the class period as necessary, and most importantly, organizes and facilitates weekly study sessions with the class.

Faculty Tutoring. Some professors volunteer their time as tutors in the TLC. Please click on the Faculty Tutoring Schedule link for more information.

Guidelines for students requesting tutorial services:

  • Don’t wait until it’s too late. Request assistance as soon as you are having trouble.
  • Attend class regularly. Tutoring is NOT a substitute for class attendance.
  • Seek clarification from your instructor about what is expected of you. It is difficult to help you if you are not clear about the assignment.
  • Be prepared and be on time. Bring your texts and other necessary materials to your tutoring sessions.

The Northwood Idea

We focus on education for a life of contribution in the private sector. We believe that is where the productive future exists. We specialize, in that we develop and build all our curriculums around the principles of the market economy. We incorporate a series of beliefs into our curriculums. And they serve to anchor us in order that the changing parts of what we do cannot lead us astray.
