Economics

Economics/Management BBA

The dual Economics/Management major focuses on important aspects of economic theory, philosophy, and application, including comparative economics, development of economic thought, economic forecasting and research, and monetary theory.

Economics / Banking and Finance / Management BBA

The triple Economics/Banking and Finance/Management major combines a strong element of private enterprise advocacy of Economics with knowledge of financial areas of non-financial businesses, banks, and trust departments, and the financial planning/investment industry of the Banking & Finance department. The Economics, Banking and Finance core is enhanced by a strong element of Management training and case study.

The Economic Forecast

Northwood University offers a unique four-year dual or triple major that combines the most useful aspects of Economics, Banking and Finance, and Management. The Economics component focuses on the study of human action, choice behavior, and its influence on resource allocation by individuals, business enterprises, nations, and the world. The curriculum introduces students to the contributions of leading economists, various techniques of economic research, and forecasting. The Management component encourages the application of economic analysis to organizational problems at both the operational and strategic levels.

Graduates routinely move into managerial positions in the banking, finance, and analytical services industries. In addition, past graduates of the program have begun careers at the Chicago Board of Trade, the Federal Reserve System, and the U.S. Department of Defense. The dual or triple major is an excellent way to prepare for graduate studies in Management, Finance, and/or Law.
