Aftermarket Management
The Aftermarket Management major focuses on the various aspects of the automotive aftermarket industry including the wholesale, retail, manufacturing, performance, and motor sports channels; as well as the development of an aftermarket business during the final term.
The Only University
Northwood is the only University that specifically prepares students for this 300 billion dollar industry. The degree in Aftermarket Management involves the manufacturing, distribution and sales of automotive parts, supplies, accessories, tools and shop equipment. Increasing demand for automotive parts insures the continued growth of this industry. Northwood develops the management skills in those who want to take advantage of the industry opportunities. The program exposes students to the range of issues faced by contemporary managers.
Students of the Aftermarket business program have the opportunity to work first hand in the countries largest new car outdoor autoshow. Northwood hosts the International Auto Show each fall on the Michigan campus. The show is directed and produced solely by Northwood students.
Our graduates occupy management positions in the automotive replacement parts industry including finance, advertising, sales, promotion, and inventory control. Entry level positions include district manager, marketing representative, and management trainee.
See Who's Talking About Us
Exerpt from a radio interview with Mr. Robert Lutz, vice chair General Motors, by Jeff Gilbert, WWJ 950 news reporter on October 2, 2009 at the VIP luncheon for the Northwood University International Auto Show.
JEFF GILBERT, WWJ, "These young people really are the people who are going to populate the industry in the future..."
BOB LUTZ, GM, "I am very encouraged by what I see. These are very active, intelligent, very dedicated, hard-working kids who know a surprising amount about the business. It's just wonderful to have this resource in Michigan near the domestic auto industry. If this university was having trouble finding students and was sparsely populated, then I would begin to worry. The enthusiasm and knowledge here is just tremendous."
