CEDAR HILL, Texas – Valentine’s Day is about love. It’s a time to tell that special someone how much you love them and an opportunity to spend time with the ones you love. For this year’s holiday, the Knights gathered together on the GSAC (Gaubert Student Activities Center) patio to watch the movie I Love You, Man.
In I Love You, Man, Peter Klaven is a successful real estate agent who, after getting engaged to his soul mate, Zooey, discovers that he does not have any close male friends that could serve as his Best Man. Peter instantaneously embarks on a series of bizarre and awkward “man-dates” to find a friend. Finally, Peter meets his polar opposite, Sydney Fife, who he instantly bonds with. But the closer Peter’s bond gets with Sydney, the more his relationship with Zooey suffers, eventually obliging him to choose between his fiancée and his new best friend.
Abby Babbitt, Director of Character and Leadership Development, explained “I chose the movie I Love You, Man, because it’s the perfect funny movie to watch for Valentine’s Day. It’s lighthearted and it allows you to have a good laugh and good fun without the pressure of feeling like you need a date for the evening”.
The Knights agreed. And all had a good time snacking on pizza, movie popcorn, and Valentine cookies, while snuggling on the sofas.
Natasha Norman, a junior advertising major, stated, “I think Valentine’s Day is great for couples, but I don’t think that it should be one designated day to show how much you love someone. Everyday should be Valentine’s Day.”
