Rodriguez Named 1st Team All-American Shortstop

CEDAR HILL, Texas – Knight Shortstop, Elvin Rodriguez, signed with the Rockford Aviators. The Rockford Aviators are a professional baseball team based in the Rockford, Illinois, suburb of Loves Park. Currently, the Aviators are a member of the Frontier League. Rodriguez is originally from Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
After earning RRAC Player of The Year honors, Rodriguez has also been named to the NAIA All-American 1st Team. Rodriguez becomes the second Knight in program history to receive such an honor, joining former catcher Johnny Aldaz.
Rodriguez led Northwood to its first appearance in program history at the Avista NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho and a 6th place ranking in the final NAIA Coach's Poll.
“I am very happy that Elvin is going to get the opportunity to continue to play baseball beyond college. Elvin is one of the best players that Northwood University has ever produced and I look forward to watching him continue to grow and achieve in baseball,” Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Kennedy said.
