MIDLAND, MI – Northwood University and the Alden B. Dow Center for Creativity & Enterprise (ABDCCE) recently hosted the final round of an unprecedented Build the Business Competition. The competition began in September 2012 and was sponsored by Chris Turner, president of the FC Mason Company.

The winners of the competition were: Shawn Mersino, a junior from Waterford; Nick Kwasiborski, a junior from Ortonville; and Nick Schummer, a junior from Ortonville. The third and final round of competition required the last two teams to produce a detailed market plan including a financial component, details on the point of sale and a price point recommendation. This team earned a monetary prize and the opportunity to gain a summer internship or employment with the FC Mason Company.

Georgia Abbott, director of the ABDCCE, commented, “This competition was an excellent opportunity for students to refine their Northwood University business acumen and utilize their creativity and critical thinking skills while working for a real company.”
