CEDAR HILL, Texas – This year’s graduating class from the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) took part in a number of events on the Northwood University, Texas campus.

Selected students from Afghanistan and Rwanda participated in the Business Boot Camp portion of the PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® program which consists of dynamic, high-level business training, combined with leadership skills, for qualifying students. Boot Camp Northwood professors included, Dr. Tara Peters, Carla Allen, Sabine Adams, Dr. Steve Tidwell and Diane Feffer.

Other Northwood University events on campus included Experience Cedar Hill with the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce, sponsored by the Cedar Hill Economic Development Corporation, which was held on Thursday, July 18th.   At the event the women were honored with a proclamation from Cedar Hill Mayor Rob Frankie, which was presented by City Councilman Steve Mason declaring July 18th Peace Through Business® Day.

Later that day the women took part in an exclusive Knights Crossing Over Ceremony only for participants of the 2013 Peace Trough Business Program®, which was held at the Cedarwood Bridge on the Northwood campus.

The Crossing Over ceremony symbolizes the "crossing over" of Northwood University graduates, students, colleagues and friends of the university from various backgrounds, and bonds them with one another by inducting them into knighthood.  Held annually on the first Saturday of October, the Texas Campus Crossing Over Ceremony is steeped in the lore of Knights, chivalry, honor, freedom and officially inducts participants into Northwood Knighthood.

“The Peace Trough Business Program® provides the foundation and dynamics of a global, free-enterprise society which indorses the mission statement of Northwood University. The students who participate in the leadership development classes are true visionaries and entrepreneurs,” explained Dr. Kevin Fegan, Northwood University, Texas President.
