CEDAR HILL, Texas –Associate Professor Martha Heimberg received the Faculty Excellence Award during graduation ceremonies on May 9 in the Ellis Davis Field House at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex. The honor was presented to her by Keith A. Pretty, president and CEO of Northwood University.
According to President Pretty, “The Northwood University Award for Faculty Excellence was established over 30 years ago to be given to a faculty member who has made, over the year, an outstanding contribution to the university in his or her profession. It carries a gift stipend of $3,000 and is the highest professional award given by the university. The criteria include breadth and depth of knowledge, a genuine interest and skill at preparing students for career and social responsibilities, excitement of inquiry, commitment to diligence, the courage to innovate, the ability to work harmoniously with other professionals, and character that reflects the highest moral values essential to the Northwood Idea. It is our ‘world class award.’”
President Pretty continued, “Assoc. Prof. Martha Heimberg, is known for her innovation, hard work and love of teaching. She demands the best and usually receives it.”
Heimberg is a resident of Dallas. She earned her M.A. in English and a BA in in Literature and English from Southern Methodist University.
