This year we have exceptional student designers whose collections range from historic inspirations to skirts and dresses made from recycled materials. To name just a few of the featured vendors from around the state of Michigan, you will see apparel from Andrea’s Closet, Gems by Em, Doncaster, My Secret Garden, Francesca’s Collection and Rent the Runway. A majority of the featured shoes in this year’s show are being provided by Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) in Saginaw. The apparel is specifically selected to be modeled in the segment that correlates with the Disney theme.
“As unfortunate as the show postponement is, no better executive board could handle it! Our team is so dedicated and passionate about this event that no setback will bring us down. This only helps us work even harder together and drives us to make the show that much better!” says Chairwoman Kaitlyn Girodat. The chair for the show is chosen every year by the show’s faculty advisor, Jill Ouellette. After Girodat was chosen, she and Ouellette chose three vice chairs and the remaining needed 14 executive board members. Professor Ouellette, states, “The hard work, dedication and synergy exhibited by our students are truly top notch. I am thrilled as an educator to watch our students develop truly marketable skills.”
This New York type high fashion show is organized by Northwood students who are solely responsible for everything—from training and coaching the 60+ student models, arranging model fittings all over Michigan, collecting the clothing, designing the decorations and layout, and the food and beverages which are served at the gala reception. This magical show is sure to be bringing back memories for attendees of all ages!
