CEDAR HILL, Texas –This was a season like none other for Northwood’s gritty baseball team. Consider:
“We knew we had the makings of a good team back in the fall,” head coach Jeremy Kennedy said. “The kids worked hard and maximized the opportunity. I am extremely proud of not just what they accomplished, but the way they went about doing it.”
The trip to Lewiston, Idaho, for the AVISTA-NAIA World Series was really the icing on the cake, Kennedy added.
“Getting to Idaho is difficult,” he said. “Only ten teams make it, and lots of really good teams are left at home. This was our first trip, but we don’t want it to be our last. It will be our goal every year to do everything we can to play in Idaho in late May.”
Beginning next year the Knights will begin playing in the competitive Sooner Athletic Conference.
“The Sooner will be tough for not just baseball, but all our sports,” Northwood Athletics Director Jack Allday added. “But we’ll be ready.”
