Zeta Phi Hosts Mr. University with a Fiesta Flair

CEDAR HILL, Texas - Wednesday, April 10, Zeta Phi Sorority held their annual Mr. University pageant. This year’s participants were Wally Trejo, Brandon Mason, Ozzie Gutiérrez, Chad Lockhart, Pablo Hernandez and Getzahel Isidro Serrano. The judges were Sara Lack, Northwood admission counselor; Christen Nobel, Northwood and Zeta Phi Alumnae; Crystal Brown-Tatum, Mrs. Black Louisiana and Ashley Williamson, owner of the Cupcake Company in Cedar Hill.
This year the Zeta’s used a Fiesta theme and the Knights really had a blast. As the event started, Zeta Phi provided props for the Knights to take memorable pictures such as fake mustaches and sombreros. Along with the photo booth were maracas, chips and salsa for the Knights to enjoy as the Mr. University contestants walked down the runway. Natasha Norman, junior advertising major and Joshua Reyes, junior entertainment sports & promotion management major, both played the guitar and serenaded the crowd during the contestants costume changes. The categories were business wear, talent and Q & A. The guys did not disappoint as they presented their personal styles in fashion and showcased their hidden talents from dancing to singing and even acting.
At last it was time for the crowning and the Knights were on the edge of their seats waiting for the judges to reveal the new Mr. University. “Choosing the winner of Mr. University was very hard. All of the guys did an amazing job,” stated Christen Nobel, Northwood and Zeta Phi Alumnae. Northwood University Texas, Mr. University was chosen and Brandon Mason was our new king. He later stated, “It is a real honor and I had the most fun at this year’s pageant by far. I had a great group of guys to compete with.” First runner up was Ozzie Gutiérrez and second runner up was Wally Trejo.
“Mr. University is always fun and the Zeta Phi girls did an amazing job; It is definitely a Northwood tradition and I’m going to take the crown next year,” said Wally Trejo. The Knights were very happy and applauded the winners, judges, entertainment and Zeta Phi.
