MIDLAND, MI – Northwood University’s Annual Stafford Memorial Dinner scholarship fundraising event themed “A Night at Sea” will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center located at 614 Center Avenue in Bay City. This year’s dinner will have a fun interactive show where guests will feel like they are on an actual cruise ship with Scott’s Entertainment Company hosting a couples’ game show.

This year’s 38th annual event is presented by Northwood University students, the majority of which are enrolled in the Hospitality Management program. The scholarship fundraiser begins with a general reception starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by an interactive style dinner at 6:00 p.m. with a silent auction proceeding until 8:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend with reserved ticket purchases starting at $80.00 per person. For more information and to make reservations, visit www.northwood.edu/stafford or contact Karla Spaeth at spaeth@northwood.edu or 989.837.4264.

This event honors the Hospitality Management program founder, William D. Stafford. Stafford was the first chairman of the program at Northwood Institute, which became a university in 1993. He used his expertise from years in the hospitality industry and incorporated his experience into the Northwood curriculum. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Stafford Memorial Dinner Scholarship Fund which directly benefits students in the Hospitality Management program.

This year’s theme, “A Night at Sea,” will feature Northwood University’s very own David Valentine, a junior from Detroit, performing on the piano throughout the evening. Valentine has been playing and perfecting his talent for the past few years. Guests will also be able to stop by John McGrane’s exhibit throughout the evening where he will be showcasing his skills as a professional fruit carver. McGrane is a freshman at Northwood from Washington, Michigan.
