January 18, 2013

CEDAR HILL, Texas – Zeta Phi Sorority which was founded on the Northwood University, TX campus in 2005 is off to an exciting start for 2013.  The sorority is excited to be holding a new member drive January 21-24 with Bid Day to follow Friday the 25th.

Zeta Phi’s community event for this semester includes tutoring high school students at Trinity River Mission.  Trinity River Mission is a volunteer-based community learning center that encourages literacy, academic success and develops effective life skills among disadvantaged youth in West Dallas, in the belief that education connects us to life’s possibilities.

The ladies of Zeta Phi are also planning to host Mr. University on Wednesday, April 10.  Mr. University, A Northwood University tradition is a Men's Pageant.  Last year the pageant included four categories, swimwear, talent, formal and an interview. Winners for 2012 included Derek Trofimczuk as Mr. University, Brandon Mason as runner up, and Wally Trejo as the second runner up.

Monica Perez, an accounting major and Zeta Phi president said, “As 2012-2013 Zeta Phi president I want to do my best to keep community involvement alive.  I would also like for the girls to be more active on campus, this will allow them to meet new people.  It will also give them the opportunity to learn how to efficiently communicate with others and teach them how to become better leaders“.
