CEDAR HILL, Texas – Northwood’s Lady Knights finished their final season in the Red River Athletic Conference in style, winning both the conference and the conference tournament, and advancing to the NAIA Regionals in Lubbock. Additionally, Houston senior Bethany Armstrong was named NAIA second team All-American.
The Lady Knights finished the year with a 29-19 record and were 19-5 in conference. Their season came to an end when they were eliminated by Houston-Victoria in the Regionals round.
“The girls worked hard all year and deserved all their success,” head coach Kayla Maddox said. “This team also had great chemistry. The players all liked and respected each other, and were a joy to coach.”
Maddox also pointed to the strong senior leadership which she said kept the team focused. “Bethany, Katie Cowan, Shelby Johnson, Taylor Jones – they made my job so much easier. Northwood will miss them.” Beginning this fall, Northwood will begin competing in the tough Sooner Athletic Conference.
