Knights Sweep Wayland Baptist
Split with York College

CEDAR HILL, Texas – There was plenty of baseball played at a sun-splashed Knights Field the weekend of (2/15 – 2/17) as Northwood won two from Wayland Baptist on Friday and split a pair with York College Sunday. In between, York downed Wayland Baptist in both games of a Saturday doubleheader, also played at Knights Field.
In the 4-3 Knights win in Friday’s opener, the home team took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the final frame. Wayland Baptist came within one run of tying the score, but couldn’t push across a fourth run. Cody Faulkner got the win. Clayton Woodruff won the second game as the Knights scored all five of their runs in the first three innings. Adam Humes had two RBI to lead the Knights at the plate with a two-for-three day. Keaton Parsell was credited with a save.
Nebraska-based York College played Northwood close in the first game Sunday but lost 2-1. Knight’s shortstop, Elvin Rodriguez, went two for three. Cody Gray went the first six, with Colton Reavis pitching the final frame and getting the save.
In the final game Sunday, York overpowered Northwood, prevailing 11-2. Roman Gomez took the loss. Gomez was followed on the mound by Edgar Valle, Billy Feathers and Miguel Salayandia.
The Knights next home game is March 8, when Texas College comes in for a Red River Athletic Conference weekend series.
