Northwood Student Activities Bring Fellow Knights Together

January 11, 2013

CEDAR HILL, Texas – Members of the Northwood University SGA (Student Govt. Association) and EXCEL hosted their Annual Ice Skating Party held at the Parks Mall in Arlington.  For a donation of five dollars students were able to skate for a good cause.  The donations collected went to Mi Escuelita in Dallas, TX.  The students adopted twenty families from the school and provided them with toys, food and diapers.

Mi Escuelita Preschool, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Dallas, Texas that provides services to low-income families with children considered to be “at-risk.” The primary focus of the school is to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment where non-English speaking children of preschool age are taught the English language, pre-reading, literacy, and social skills necessary to be a successful in both school and life.

Northwood CAB (Campus Activities Board) also sold Six Flags tickets for Holiday in the Park and used the proceeds to buy toys for Big Brothers and Big Sisters and their families.

The next exciting student event planned for the Texas campus will be the Annual Welcome Back Casino Night which will be held in Lambert Hall at 7:30PM on January 23.

“Arranging events such as these brings the students together for a good cause.  Not only do they raise money for local charities but the students form friendships that will last a lifetime”, said Abby Babbitt, Director of Character and Leadership Development.
