CEDAR HILL, Texas –Northwood Lady Knight golfer Fariza Zain, a freshman from Singapore, has been named a first-team NAIA All-American. Another freshman, Flower Mound’s Laura Deleonardis, was named a second team All-American. And Honorable Mention was awarded to Northwood Senior, Esther Kang from Dallas, TX.
The honors capped a great year for Northwood’s lady golfers, who were ranked seventh in the nation in the 2013 NAIA post-season poll.
“I’m proud of the entire team, and certainly of Fariza and Laura,” head coach Ben Belfield said. “And being ranked seventh nationally is another indication of how strong our women’s team is.”
Beginning next year, Northwood golfers will be competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Five SAC schools are ranked in the top 25 teams in the post-season poll – the most of any NAIA conference.
“Next year will present some new challenges,” Belfield said. “But we’ll be ready.”
