Candy Hearts and Roses
Knights raise Money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ellis County
February 15, 2013
CEDAR HILL, Texas – Candy hearts, chocolates, and roses all mean one thing: love is in the air this week. Rather than just focusing on Valentine’s Day, Northwood is sharing the love with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ellis County. The Greek community at Northwood University spent their Valentine week making candy bags and selling Valentine hearts and balloons for the BBBS of Ellis County. The knights are competing in the university challenge to keep the BBBS trophy at the university.
Sarah Martinez, sophomore, fashion marketing major, said “We did a good job and raised a great amount of money. The candy sale also bought the Greeks together as a whole”.
BBBS of Ellis County awards a trophy to the university that donates the most money to the organization and the Knights are determined to keep the trophy at Northwood. Other students on campus are also selling “jean day” stickers to faculty and staff on campus, which allow them to wear jeans on Thursday. NU Alumni are also joining in on the fun and were the first individuals to form a team this year.
Northwood University is happy to have 9 teams participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake at the end of this month and look forward to bowling with their peers, faculty and staff.
