CEDAR HILL, Texas – Northwood Cross Country competed in the Ram Rambler on Saturday, September 22.  The Ram Rambler was hosted by Texas Wesleyan and the competition included teams such as UT-Dallas, University of Dallas, Midwestern State University, Texas Wesleyan and Hardin Simmons to name a few.  Northwood men’s team placed seventh overall with two runners placing in the top 25. Senior, Kip Kosgel, placed 1st with a time of 26:45.90 and senior, Abel Eshete, placed 20th with a time of 30:34.70.

Women ran a 5k race and the men ran an 8k race.  Northwood women’s team placed fourth overall with two runners placing in the top 25. Sophomore, Trayshaenae Wright, placed 8th with a time of 20:36.70 and senior, Cursty Hicks, placed 23rd with a time of 22:35.10.

Coach Watkins said, “It was our first time out, but I am pleased with how we are progressing.  Kip obviously ran very well, winning the Men’s 8K race, and Tray Wright on the Women’s side also had a top 10 finish.”

He continued saying, “We had a few newcomers who ran their first ever collegiate race, so it was good to see them compete well and get accustomed to collegiate racing.   We will keep working toward the Conference Championships in November.”

The cross country team’s next meet is Friday, October 5, at the Texas Wesleyan Invitational.
