Northwood University to Host DECA Conference Competition
Over 550 students and their advisors from more than 25 area schools will participate in business-themed competitions.
MIDLAND, MI – Northwood University, in conjunction with DECA, is hosting the District 1 Conference and Competition on Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 9 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Hach Student Life Center on Northwood’s Midland Campus located at 4000 Whiting Drive.
DECA is a program that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Over 550 students and their advisors from more than 25 area schools will participate in business-themed competitions such as Individual Series, Team Decision-Making and more. Preparation begins in early September for a variety of challenges. Teams may analyze and create marketing plans for local businesses; they may create actual new business ventures; or they may advise businesses on expansion plans, to name just a few of the many projects on which participants are judged.
Volunteers from local businesses are needed to help judge the individual competitions. The judging is based on how well the individual students or student teams solve the marketing problems presented to them and the demonstration of their knowledge of marketing principles.
For more information on the District 1 Conference and Competition or to volunteer as a judge, contact Tom Erickson of Northwood University at 989.837.4228 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
