Northwood University welcomes Genee Francis as the new student counselor for their Cedar Hill, TX campus. Though her practice is focused on family and couples counseling, Francis has 11 years of experience in education roles ranging from housing to student affairs. After earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, Francis attended graduate school with a focus on mediation.
“I am whole heartedly focused on student success. I believe that it is most important that students have a sense of wholeness in mind, body and soul. Also it is imperative that our students set goals so they have a path in life with a destination in mind. It will give them direction and a compass. And hopefully I’ll be able to help them along the way,” stated Genee Francis, student counselor.
Francis has come to Northwood with the hopes of helping students feel welcome and learn to better manage stress. When asked about the time she has spent here, she commented on the strong sense of community that permeates the campus saying she has been embraced by the students.
“She has a passion and love for the overall well-being of the Northwood family. Since Genee has a passion for the students she is consistently found encouraging students to achieve their life long academic and personal goals. Genee truly has an open door policy where students can come in and talk openly about anything. This is why she is a great asset to the Texas campus,” said Angela McGill, Director of Residence Life and Security.
