Jabbar Reid led the Knights with 30 points
December 14, 2012
CEDAR HILL, Texas, December 14, 2012- Northwood’s men’s basketball team kicked off its inaugural season with skilled players, dedicated coaches, a supportive student body, and a challenging schedule. All that was missing was its first win.
That win came at home December 8th when the Knights topped visiting St. Gregory’s University, 84-68. St. Gregory’s had beaten Northwood earlier this season in a game played at Shawnee, OK.
“It felt so good to get that first W,” Northward forward Tito Andrade said. “We have played hard in every game, but were never quite able to get over the hump. Against St. Gregory’s, it just all finally came together.”
St. Gregory’s was never able to solve Northwood’s 3-2 matchup zone defense, shooting under 40% from the floor. The visitors also missed 18 free throws.
Jabbar Reid led the Knights with 30 points. The 6’6” guard made 13 of 22 shots from the field.
“The kids have been working hard and learning to play together,” Northwood head coach Ray Wilkerson said. “A lot of things are finally starting to click, and we’re really looking forward to the last half of the season.”
