Northwood University Florida recently unveiled its first-ever Crossing Over Ceremony as part of its 2012-2013 welcome weekend activities.
The luminary service, designed to lay the foundation for building a strong campus community by uniting all students, was opened with a prayer by Northwood University Florida President Dr. Tom Duncan.
While reminding the group of the meaning and value of the Northwood Idea, Duncan encouraged them to be thoughtful and protective of their fellow classmen, and to reach out to each other when needed.
Robert Cabello, Dean of Students, Linda Mohr, Interim Dean of Academics and Robert Carlisle, Student Government Associate President also welcomed the students and expressed how vital it is to become involved and mindful of the Northwood Idea while taking advantage of every opportunity the Northwood Experience has to offer.
Following the remarks, the crowd gathered in two circles facing each other and rotated in opposing directions to introduce themselves.
The evening concluded with an ice cream social.
