28 Northwood University Athletes Receive Awards
Red River Athletic Conference Academic Awards Announced
CEDAR HILL, Texas –The Red River Athletic Conference GPA Awards recognize the schools and student-athletes who performed the best in the classroom during the 2011-12 academic year. Schools submitted the cumulative grade-point average of all student-athletes competing in RRAC-sanctioned sports for the most recent year.
“This is just another testament to the fact that here at Northwood the student is every bit as important as the athlete in ‘student-athlete’,” Athletic Director Jack Allday commented. “Our young men and women work as hard in the classroom as they do on the playing field.”
Allday also noted the importance of the coaches in making sure that their athletes focus on academics. “The coaches hold regular study halls, do grade checks, and just generally stay on top of how their players are doing academically,” Allday said. “This is the best group of coaches we’ve had at Northwood in the 20 years I have been around here.”
Individual Northwood student-athletes who achieved a 3.0 GPA or better for the year are recognized below.
