The WPEC television interview centered around a report stating that Florida's Rick Scott is among the country's worst governors.
Florida professor Timothy Gilbert recently spoke with WPEC anchor Ben Becker to shed light relating to a report naming Florida Governor Rick Scott one of the worst governors in the country.
Published by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), Governor Scott, (along with seventeen other governors, overwhelmingly republican) has been identified as one of the worst governors in America. Their criteria are centered mostly around his performance in addressing social issues such as voter fraud, welfare and Medicaid, ignoring other significant concerns to Floridians.
Gilbert shared that during his term in office Governor Scott has reduced unemployment, balanced the state budget, helped to buoy the housing market, and provided additional funding for education. In addition, Florida remains the number one tourist destination in the world, pouring millions of dollars into our economy. "The fact that Governor Scott has shown great concern for voter integrity here in Florida should be a positive statement rather than a negative indictment, especially based on the past few national elections and the problems encountered here in voting procedures. Governor Scott's inability to articulate his accomplishments remains a difficulty for him to overcome," said Gilbert.
